Football

Weymouth Football Club plays in the Blue Square South division of non-league football.  Its home games are played at The Wessex Stadium on the outskirts of the town.  The football ground is easily accessible by bus; the bus stop being a short walk along the promenade from The Esplanade.  For information on fixtures and pricing, please visit www.theterras.co.uk for further information.
 

Bowls and bowling

Bowls is a popular pastime in Weymouth with many rinks upon which to ply your fun.  The main rinks are Weymouth & Melcombe Regis (01305 766923), Greenhill (01305 784268), Moonfleet (1305 759106) and Wellworthys (01305 779316).  
 
Each summer Weymouth hosts an open bowls tournament.  For information and/or entry forms, contact www.weymouthbowlstourney.co.uk which also has directions to and information on venues etc.
 
There is also a ten-pin bowling alley situated a short walk from The Esplanade in the town centre.  The Lakeside Superbowl can be contacted on 01305 781444.
 
Skittles is a popular pastime in Weymouth.  Many pubs and clubs have skittle alleys and regular pub league skittles is played each week.  If this is something of interest to you then we will be more than happy to assist in locating somewhere for you to play.
 

Tennis

Although not overabundant, tennis courts are available throughout the year.  The most picturesque are situated at Greenhill gardens overlooking the sea. They are approximately five minutes’ walk from The Esplanade and can be booked for play with the attendant during the summer (June – October) or are free during the winter.  There are a couple of other municipal courts around the town, notably situated at Radipole Park Gardens has seven.  These are open all year round to the public, free of charge.  Wyke Gardens has one, again free all year and there are also two free courts in Victoria Gardens, in Fortuneswell on Portland.  They too are open all year round.
 
For the more discerning player, Weymouth Tennis club has four all-weather courts and can be contacted on 01305 832432.  They also play at Radipole Park Gardens.
 

Swimming

For swimming in the sea see beaches.  You can also swim in the pool.  Weymouth has a 25 metre heated indoor pool with a separate learner or children’s pool.  As well as lessons, the pool hosts fun sessions involving inflatable attractions and other toys, ideal for a rainy day or just for a change.  The pool is approximately a 20 minute walk from The Esplanade.  For further information, contact 01305 774373 or visit www.weymouth.gov.uk/home.asp?sv=84 for opening times and timetables etc.
 
There is also a pool situated in The Hotel Rembrandt situated just a five minute stroll from The Esplanade.  Their leisure club is open to non-residents and day passes can be purchased.  A combined ticket can also be gained that gives access to their gym facilities too.  Contact 01305 764000, or visit www.hotelrembrandt.co.uk for further information.
 

Gym

The local swimming pool has a newly fitted multigym available to non members.  The gym is in the same building as the swimming pool and can be contacted on 01305 774373 or visit www.weymouth.gov.uk/home.asp?sv=84 for further information.  It will take approximately 20 minutes by foot or 5 minutes in a car to get to this gym.
